About Jen...

Thanks for checking in to learn more about me.  I love my life and seriously feel really blessed!  Photography is a passion of mine and it definitely continues to challenge me to push the envelope more and more.  I have been photographing weddings and families for more than 10 years and feel incredibly blessed to do what I love surrounded by those that I love!!  I am a mom to three and married to the love of my life.  I've chosen to work from home and while often challenging, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I have 2 boys and one little girl.  Brennan is almost 7 and is my little red head.  People LOVE his red hair. Though he started out with the fiery personality I carried as a youngster, he's grown up to be quite the respectful child who has a love of learning. Dawson is a middle child...need I say more?  He's a tender hearted almost 4 year old whose main method of communication is the perpetual whine.  He has an infectious smile that sure makes it hard to put the camera down around him.  Emery is our little girl who is 1 year old.  She's super laid back and easily entertained...the complete opposite of both her brothers.  She is loved by all the boys in our house but wants only to be with Mommy...and after a couple of Daddy's boys, I'm really ok with that!  My husband and I will be married 10 years this year.  I can hardly believe it's been that long.  He too has a job that he loves in Real Estate Development.  He's very supportive of me in my business and really helpful with the technical side of things (he insists he's even taught me a little Photoshop here and there...I beg to differ).  If there's anything he'd change about my job...it's all the romance I'm around that he has to compete with!!  I'm a hopeless romantic for sure!  But he has some of that in him too, it just tends to go into hiding sometimes!

My family is the most important thing to me and is definitely the reason I love photography so much.  I can't describe the satisfaction I get in capturing wonderful moments for people who are be able to keep them as memories forever.  I truly am grateful that I can have a career working for so many amazing people during some of their most intimate life moments.

In the bag...

I use only the highest quality cameras and lenses!  My main camera is the Canon 5d Mark II.  It is a full frame camera with over 21 megapixels and an expanded ISO range from 50 up to 25,600.  WOW!!  This is cutting edge camera technology...at least for the moment!  I also use only Canon "L" series lenses.  The "L" stand for luxury and man does it ever live up to its name!  Aside from giving me a good arm workout, these lenses have low dispersion glass and are some of the fastest lenses available.  While I typically prefer the wide aperture and great depth of field offered by the 70-200 f 2.8 lens, I also have a handful of other great lenses...

17-40mm f 4.0 USM                                                                                                     28-70mm f 2.8 USM                                                                                                   35mm f 1.4 USM                                                                                                              I also have a Canon 580EX and 580EXII Speedlight.

For Editing I use Adobe Lightroom 2.0 and Adobe Photoshop CS4.

Zach and Sara Engagement

It’s no secret I love what I do.

But sometimes you meet that couple that is just A M A Z I N G, and you are super grateful to be chosen to capture their love.  Everything about these two is just that…it’s about them and their love…not about their wedding!  I was so impressed as they shared about their upcoming day because it was all centered around their upcoming marriage and committment to each other, and not about all the little things that make up a wedding.

You can see their love is so beautiful and I can’t wait to photograph their special day next month!

Engaged! Scott and Lindsay – AZ Engagement Photography

Lindsay is my nanny and such an amazing help to me! She juggles the 3 kids and household responsibilities so well that I question my mothering abilities on her days off =) She’s recently engaged to Scott and I can already tell that these two will have a great future! Here are some more images we captured for their engagement session.

Young Love – AZ Wedding Photography

These two are dying for a sneak peek so here’s one shot that to me, just captured THEM. Scott and Lindsay were recently engaged and are such an adorable couple. I shouldn’t have titled the post “young love” because they are probably getting slack for that from a lot of places, but for the record I know Lindsay pretty well and she is a very mature young woman who I think will handle marriage just fine. And Scott was just adorable, silly and cute with her, so he pretty much won me over!

I LOVE young, new love. I secretly live vicariously through these people because being engaged and newly married is some of my fondest memories with my husband. It was the beginning of the best times of my life and I truly enjoy watching others in their own mushy bliss =)

More to come on these two!

John and Linette ENGAGED

John and Linette are getting married in April. A couple of weeks ago I met them at the super cool Scottsdale Waterfront, where they live, to shoot their engagement photos! I was in love with the backgrounds to shoot with and of course this adorable couple that were SO much fun together…they pretty much made my job REALLY easy!

Ummm…LOVE the shoes!

This was inside the clubhouse…aren’t they cute?

We passed the store where John got her beautiful ring from so we stopped there to take a photo…
At the end of the session John took us up to the rooftop to see the city and pool…what a great view, we had to take some shots up here too!
Gorgeous couple…
Thanks John and Linette, I can’t wait to do your wedding! CLICK HERE to view their slideshow.

Guess who’s getting married…

Ok so it may be “old” news but I’ll bet you haven’t seen pictures of this great couple yet!! So, it is true…my good friend Russ is finally getting married! Russ and I go WAY back and as the story is frequently retold, he was one of my first boyfriends as a teen and he’s continued to be a dear friend to myself and my husband. We are SO EXCITED for him, he just couldn’t have chosen a better girl…

she’s super sweet and SO laid back
she can be goofy right along with him
not only can she take his sarcasm…
she dishes it right back at him!
she’s truly won his heart (he even misses basketball once in awhile to be with her, WHOA now we KNOW something’s up)!
Oh, and of course, SHE has a name…
J…E…N! So of course, what’s not to like about this special girl that won him over??
Here’s a few pics from their engagement session, and let me just add how COOL I think it is that they just look SO right together! You know when couples just look like each other and are such a great match…that’s Russ and Jen and I love it!

I’ll definitely miss a few things from the “single” russ…
long chats analyzing girls and relationships
late night phone calls, (he’s been a consistent night owl with my husband and I), we’d often call each other into the midnight hour for random conversations…

But, I’m definitely looking forward to fun times with the two of them…
double dates…
couples game nights!
a new friend at Evergreen company activities!
no longer being the brunt of the Evergreen jokes having dated two of the employees…
traveling? hopefully we can join them on a trip sometime.
dare I say babies? can’t wait to see Russ with a rambunctious boy as he tries to jump from the couch…bring on the grey hair!

Congratulations!! Thanks for letting me take your pics, I know it was harder to relax in front of the camera with Elisha and I! You did great and it was definitely cool to get to see your love through my lens…I’m so happy for you both! To view their slideshow click here…

Andy and Bonnie getting married!

Here’s a cute couple getting married in late October. We did their engagment photos in Scottsdale at DC Ranch, a favorite shooting place I stole from Marnee (thanks!). Andy and Bonnie are laid back and so fun to work with, I’m really looking forward to their wedding. Here’s some shots from our session…

From what I could gather, Andy is pretty in love…not just with Bonnie, but with his truck…we had to do a few shots to get his two favorite loves…

Thanks you guys! Can’t wait for the wedding.
