About Jen...

Thanks for checking in to learn more about me.  I love my life and seriously feel really blessed!  Photography is a passion of mine and it definitely continues to challenge me to push the envelope more and more.  I have been photographing weddings and families for more than 10 years and feel incredibly blessed to do what I love surrounded by those that I love!!  I am a mom to three and married to the love of my life.  I've chosen to work from home and while often challenging, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I have 2 boys and one little girl.  Brennan is almost 7 and is my little red head.  People LOVE his red hair. Though he started out with the fiery personality I carried as a youngster, he's grown up to be quite the respectful child who has a love of learning. Dawson is a middle child...need I say more?  He's a tender hearted almost 4 year old whose main method of communication is the perpetual whine.  He has an infectious smile that sure makes it hard to put the camera down around him.  Emery is our little girl who is 1 year old.  She's super laid back and easily entertained...the complete opposite of both her brothers.  She is loved by all the boys in our house but wants only to be with Mommy...and after a couple of Daddy's boys, I'm really ok with that!  My husband and I will be married 10 years this year.  I can hardly believe it's been that long.  He too has a job that he loves in Real Estate Development.  He's very supportive of me in my business and really helpful with the technical side of things (he insists he's even taught me a little Photoshop here and there...I beg to differ).  If there's anything he'd change about my job...it's all the romance I'm around that he has to compete with!!  I'm a hopeless romantic for sure!  But he has some of that in him too, it just tends to go into hiding sometimes!

My family is the most important thing to me and is definitely the reason I love photography so much.  I can't describe the satisfaction I get in capturing wonderful moments for people who are be able to keep them as memories forever.  I truly am grateful that I can have a career working for so many amazing people during some of their most intimate life moments.

In the bag...

I use only the highest quality cameras and lenses!  My main camera is the Canon 5d Mark II.  It is a full frame camera with over 21 megapixels and an expanded ISO range from 50 up to 25,600.  WOW!!  This is cutting edge camera technology...at least for the moment!  I also use only Canon "L" series lenses.  The "L" stand for luxury and man does it ever live up to its name!  Aside from giving me a good arm workout, these lenses have low dispersion glass and are some of the fastest lenses available.  While I typically prefer the wide aperture and great depth of field offered by the 70-200 f 2.8 lens, I also have a handful of other great lenses...

17-40mm f 4.0 USM                                                                                                     28-70mm f 2.8 USM                                                                                                   35mm f 1.4 USM                                                                                                              I also have a Canon 580EX and 580EXII Speedlight.

For Editing I use Adobe Lightroom 2.0 and Adobe Photoshop CS4.

Welcome Baby Aidan!!

Meet the newest member of my extended family, Aidan James Shea! He is only one week old and has quite the head of hair! He is an especially welcome addition after my sister had 3 girls, so needless to say…Daddy is looking forward to some “guy” time with this little boy! After a busy week in and out of the hospital, he is home with bruised feet from being poked and hopefully gets to be home for good now =) I was privelaged to be at his birth, so I took the opportunity to take lots of photos of all the expressions when he made his debut! It was especially touching to have his big sister Marissa there, she was very emotional and super cute! Here are a few photos and a slideshow of some of his first images from last week!
This is my sister Stephannie looking great the night before having Aidan!

Dad’s first look at his baby boy!

A sweet moment with the new family…probably hard to notice the tear on Marissa’s cheek, very sweet!

Flagstaff Fall Festival

Today we drove up to Flagstaff in an attempt to get some cooler weather and some great shots with the few trees that change colors in Arizona!! I was a bit disappointed to see that of the Aspens we had to choose from, which weren’t many, lots of the leaves had already fallen!! Bummer! At any rate, we went to the Flagstaff “Autumn in the Aspen’s” festival and had a good time. It was only their second year, so it was a smaller scale event, but the kids had a blast and didn’t notice a lack of activities compared to Schnepf Farms where we usually go this time of year. Here are some pictures with some of my family who joined us for the day trip.
Two of the cutest kids…

Erin and Will’s Engagement Session

Erin is my GORGEOUS cousin! She and her fiancee’ Will are getting married in San Diego December 1st and last week we went out to do some engagement photos for them. They both photograph very well and I am blessed to get to photograph their wedding in California. Sadly it takes weddings and other events to get us all together, but I love them still the same =) Here are some of my favorite images from their shoot.

I love how cute they are all cuddled up together in these shots.

You can definitely tell how much Will loves her when he holds her close and can’t seem to wipe the smile from his face!

David and Jennifer Engagement Session

If there was ever a mold for a dream couple to work with for a wedding, these two people created that mold! Meet David and Jennifer Bosen, recently married in the Mesa Arizona Temple in September. They are seriously the most laid back, easy going people to work with and incredibly good at interacting with each other which makes getting great photos of them SUPER EASY for me! I LOVED working with them and their families and will have some wedding images posted soon. Here are some of the images from their engagement session…
Here is a fun, colorful wall we found…

David is very cute loving on Jennifer

I love this shot with the architecture behind them.

Another example of how cute and in love they are!!
