About Jen...

Thanks for checking in to learn more about me.  I love my life and seriously feel really blessed!  Photography is a passion of mine and it definitely continues to challenge me to push the envelope more and more.  I have been photographing weddings and families for more than 10 years and feel incredibly blessed to do what I love surrounded by those that I love!!  I am a mom to three and married to the love of my life.  I've chosen to work from home and while often challenging, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I have 2 boys and one little girl.  Brennan is almost 7 and is my little red head.  People LOVE his red hair. Though he started out with the fiery personality I carried as a youngster, he's grown up to be quite the respectful child who has a love of learning. Dawson is a middle child...need I say more?  He's a tender hearted almost 4 year old whose main method of communication is the perpetual whine.  He has an infectious smile that sure makes it hard to put the camera down around him.  Emery is our little girl who is 1 year old.  She's super laid back and easily entertained...the complete opposite of both her brothers.  She is loved by all the boys in our house but wants only to be with Mommy...and after a couple of Daddy's boys, I'm really ok with that!  My husband and I will be married 10 years this year.  I can hardly believe it's been that long.  He too has a job that he loves in Real Estate Development.  He's very supportive of me in my business and really helpful with the technical side of things (he insists he's even taught me a little Photoshop here and there...I beg to differ).  If there's anything he'd change about my job...it's all the romance I'm around that he has to compete with!!  I'm a hopeless romantic for sure!  But he has some of that in him too, it just tends to go into hiding sometimes!

My family is the most important thing to me and is definitely the reason I love photography so much.  I can't describe the satisfaction I get in capturing wonderful moments for people who are be able to keep them as memories forever.  I truly am grateful that I can have a career working for so many amazing people during some of their most intimate life moments.

In the bag...

I use only the highest quality cameras and lenses!  My main camera is the Canon 5d Mark II.  It is a full frame camera with over 21 megapixels and an expanded ISO range from 50 up to 25,600.  WOW!!  This is cutting edge camera technology...at least for the moment!  I also use only Canon "L" series lenses.  The "L" stand for luxury and man does it ever live up to its name!  Aside from giving me a good arm workout, these lenses have low dispersion glass and are some of the fastest lenses available.  While I typically prefer the wide aperture and great depth of field offered by the 70-200 f 2.8 lens, I also have a handful of other great lenses...

17-40mm f 4.0 USM                                                                                                     28-70mm f 2.8 USM                                                                                                   35mm f 1.4 USM                                                                                                              I also have a Canon 580EX and 580EXII Speedlight.

For Editing I use Adobe Lightroom 2.0 and Adobe Photoshop CS4.

Will and Erin part II

Ok, so you got a sneak peak of Erin and Will’s San Diego wedding awhile ago and I can sadly say it took me this long to finish their final edit! I knew it would take me some time with the holidays, the new shoots I had and all the recent weddings I have shot, but I am thankful they have been patient so I could really dedicate the time I wanted to it! I can safely say it turned out to be some of my favorite wedding images EVER! I mean when you get a couple as great as they were and get to shoot on beautiful beaches, it is just bound to turn out good! So I am having a hard time narrowing down the images for the blog, so check these out, but be sure to watch the slideshow (link after images) with lots more cool images from the wedding day! Here’s Erin, the beautiful bride…
I couldn’t decide between these two which I liked better…

I love this shot, especially the water which is slightly blurred from dragging the shutter in the low light we had. Too bad this one was taken by Perry Sevey their awesome videographer and not me! Perry and I have travelled to many weddings together and we always have a great time and get great stuff!

Check out the cool skies we had to work with!!

I was thankful Erin’s mom wasn’t around for this shot, she would’ve killed me, but I think I was forgiven once she saw the result produced from getting the dress a bit dirty!

The reception included immediate friends and family and took place in this gorgeous room at The Grande Colonial Hotel in San Diego.

This is a shot inside the ORIGINAL, super unique elevator at the hotel
We were even able to sneak away from the reception briefly to get a few shots of Will carrying Erin into their honeymoon suite!
Check out more great shots including those at the San Diego Temple and more of the beach by clicking here.
Thanks again Will, Erin and Woodman’s for having me out to San Diego, it was so much fun!

NAME MY BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright…4 weeks to go and still undecided on the PERFECT name for this little girl!! I would LOVE to hear your fabulous GIRL names for us to consider! As you know, we have NAMING ISSUES…and after learning my lesson “settling” on a name for my second child and changing it a few months later, I figure I better get it right this time. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO…what is our NAMING STYLE you ask?? Well, I am not sure…the middle name will be after a family member and the first name can’t be TOO common. I love different names that aren’t TOO different. Soooo…give me your ideas so I can start considering them. PLEASE! BY the way, I am totally into girl names that end with a “y” or “ly” or “ee” makes it more girly =)

Kissing Cousins

Oh how cute is this? This is Jillian and Colby, 2 yr old kissing cousins, aren’t they cute??

This is the Langham family from Seattle! Ok, so the girls moved with their families here, but Mom is still from Seattle!

This is Joe, Emily and Colby. Emily and I met many years ago when we both worked for Bank of America in the same position but covering different states. It is so funny to think about that now and to see how our lives have changed! Somehow I was lucky enough to convince them to move here and then less than a year ago, her sister moved here with their family as well!
Here’s a shot of her sister and family, Tom, Bec and Jillian

Look at the cute kids I had to work with!
Though Joe and Emily were only married 2 weeks after us, they took a bit longer to start their family, but how fun it’s been to be only two weeks apart from her this pregnancy! So, she gets the joys of me going first to tell her how good or bad it is to have one, then two and now THREE!
This is their mom Chris sporting a super cute vest!! And another cute one with her grandbabies!
I LOVE this shot, I wish I could know what each was thinking, obviously someone behind me was really making a fool of themseleves to get their attention! And of course ending on a good note…I can’t believe these 2 yr olds would hold hands AND kiss, I got lucky with these two.

Walworth Family Photos

It’s amazing the different ways the Lord directs and blesses our lives! Moving to our new home took a great deal of prayer and consideration and I can honestly say that I feel so blessed to have this family as our next door neighbors! Long gone are the days where we have friendly neighbors to call on in time of need or that our children can play together…I feel so blessed to live next door to this wonderful family! It was fun to get to do some nice photos for them recently as they hadn’t had a family photo in many years. This is Lauren, the youngest and also the same age as my oldest Brennan! Here’s Sarah another favorite of my kids. It’s been fun, the kids will just climb up on our shared wall and wait til they see their friends in the yard so they can play together. They LOVE their playtime and it’s helped me get lots more work done too, keeping my kids busy!
Here is a great shot of all 5 kids!
Here’s Dani and Hannah. They are both so BEAUTIFUL! I am lucky to have both babysit for me quite often and I am so grateful that I can get more work done because of them!

A cute shot of the sisters…

Here’s James, my boys love him and I am of course partial to the red hair!
I loved the feel of this location it seemed so unlike an Arizona setting! Sure we have fall, look at all the leaves. One last shot of the entire group! Thanks for sticking it out in the cold guys…it was so fun to photograph your beautiful family! To see a slideshow of my favorites from this session click HERE

SNOW SNOW SNOW!!!!

I can’t believe how fast time goes and then I realize I am SO behind on my posts! In the interest of time…I have this post that I have been meaning to put up for awhile of our trip to the snow during Christmas break! We went with our good friends and former neighbors the Wilsons and had a blast!! The first photo is Morgan and her friend Emily sledding. Then there is my sweet Brynlee who I always joke was supposed to be my daughter…I love her to death and she does have the girl name we ALWAYS wanted to use!

Here are little buddies Dawson and Preston! They are so cute, just 4months apart in age and love to play together.

Brennan was in his own element at the snow, I barely saw him the whole time, he sledded over and over and over again and then just sat to work on a snowman in the snow, he LOVED it! Here’s a fun shot of Brynlee and daddy going down a hill. He kind of looks like a terrorist with that face mask huh?? Reuben will kill me for this one, but hey, he knows I had my camera and chose to make the face…and he knows I like to blog…so who cares! This is him taking Dawson down! We found a half finished snowman and decided to finish it off! The snow was not sticking together though so Reuben went in search of something to use and found this! Not quite a round ball, but it worked!
Our snowman! As you can see, he’s been dieting =)

Here’s what Dawson is like without his nap at 4 in the afternoon!

Sure fits can be thrown on snow covered floors too!

Here’s the best way to get lots of crap and a 35pound 2yr old who refuses to walk up the hill back to the car =) I made a PROMISE to my husband we would NEVER again drive up and back the same day unless Dawson gets MUCH easier for car rides…6 hours in the car and he only slept from the snow to the gas station, 15 minutes. The rest of the time he argued his case for getting out of his car seat…no lie, hours of this!
One last shot of Morgan sledding down!

Pribyl Family Photos

Check out this adorable family, Matt, Nicole, Shea and Carson Pribyl!! Don’t they just all look so good? Nicole is another friend of mine and I’d have to say, she does win the “longest friend” prize…sorry janelle! Nicole has pictures of us at her birthday party in like 2nd or 3rd grade, I can only imagine what we looked like! Despite a year here and there where we were out of touch since we didn’t always go to the same church or school, we have been friends for so long that it REALLY ages me! At any rate, she has an ADORABLE family and I was privileged to take their photos this year! Here is her gorgeous daughter Shea, she’s 4… And then there is the cute and BUSY little Carson who is 2 We took the photos at North Mountain, which is of course just what most would call a “hill” not a mountain, but we had some fun backgrounds to work with!

Maybe I am just REALLY getting excited for a girl because this photo just MELTS MY HEART! There is something so SWEET about a little girl and her Daddy!
And of course, BOYS need their Daddies too…

And the happy couple!!

Needler Family Photos

In my quest for “catching up” on editing I am working on editing and posting some of my recent family shoots from just before Christmas! Here is the Needler family! They wanted to do a photo together before one of them moves out of state to Alaska, so we were able to get some great shots of their family. Here are some of the photos we got…

This is Justin and Annie, the ones moving to Alaska! Their baby Gage is SO CUTE!
I love how happy and smily Gage was despite the freezing cold weather we had to contend with! I loved these curls, she looks so cute!!
Here’s a cute shot of Alisa and her family. Alisa is a good friend and definitely rates up there as one of my favorite people! Here’s Morgan, she really loves her grandpa and let him take over walking her around!
And this cute shot of CUTE COUSINS!!!
