About Jen...

Thanks for checking in to learn more about me.  I love my life and seriously feel really blessed!  Photography is a passion of mine and it definitely continues to challenge me to push the envelope more and more.  I have been photographing weddings and families for more than 10 years and feel incredibly blessed to do what I love surrounded by those that I love!!  I am a mom to three and married to the love of my life.  I've chosen to work from home and while often challenging, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I have 2 boys and one little girl.  Brennan is almost 7 and is my little red head.  People LOVE his red hair. Though he started out with the fiery personality I carried as a youngster, he's grown up to be quite the respectful child who has a love of learning. Dawson is a middle child...need I say more?  He's a tender hearted almost 4 year old whose main method of communication is the perpetual whine.  He has an infectious smile that sure makes it hard to put the camera down around him.  Emery is our little girl who is 1 year old.  She's super laid back and easily entertained...the complete opposite of both her brothers.  She is loved by all the boys in our house but wants only to be with Mommy...and after a couple of Daddy's boys, I'm really ok with that!  My husband and I will be married 10 years this year.  I can hardly believe it's been that long.  He too has a job that he loves in Real Estate Development.  He's very supportive of me in my business and really helpful with the technical side of things (he insists he's even taught me a little Photoshop here and there...I beg to differ).  If there's anything he'd change about my job...it's all the romance I'm around that he has to compete with!!  I'm a hopeless romantic for sure!  But he has some of that in him too, it just tends to go into hiding sometimes!

My family is the most important thing to me and is definitely the reason I love photography so much.  I can't describe the satisfaction I get in capturing wonderful moments for people who are be able to keep them as memories forever.  I truly am grateful that I can have a career working for so many amazing people during some of their most intimate life moments.

In the bag...

I use only the highest quality cameras and lenses!  My main camera is the Canon 5d Mark II.  It is a full frame camera with over 21 megapixels and an expanded ISO range from 50 up to 25,600.  WOW!!  This is cutting edge camera technology...at least for the moment!  I also use only Canon "L" series lenses.  The "L" stand for luxury and man does it ever live up to its name!  Aside from giving me a good arm workout, these lenses have low dispersion glass and are some of the fastest lenses available.  While I typically prefer the wide aperture and great depth of field offered by the 70-200 f 2.8 lens, I also have a handful of other great lenses...

17-40mm f 4.0 USM                                                                                                     28-70mm f 2.8 USM                                                                                                   35mm f 1.4 USM                                                                                                              I also have a Canon 580EX and 580EXII Speedlight.

For Editing I use Adobe Lightroom 2.0 and Adobe Photoshop CS4.

Babies…

It’s been a week of BABIES for me…I’ve photographed boy/girl twins, a sweet baby girl and soon to photograph this little boy! I haven’t had time to post, but I do have some great new images coming VERY SOON!

In the meantime I got a new little nephew late last night (early this morning actually) and I have a feeling some out of town family members are dying to see this little guy! My brother Chris and his wife Sally had a whirlwind 24hours of labor w/no sleep and are on the first day of this incredible journey that will undoubtedly change their lives…for better and worse sometimes, but mostly for better! It’s amazing, all of a sudden this little, tiny person comes to you and there it is…you are now PARENT, for the.rest.of.your.life. Seriously, it’s kind of an overwhelming thing to think that none of us have to get degrees to do this most difficult job!

Chris and Sally have waited FOREVER for this moment and I really enjoyed seeing them in this new element. Not gonna lie, Chris will need some practice with the diaper changes, I gave him a few pointers for his first bad diaper…about 12 wipes and a slightly stressed dad later, Nathan was ready to get dressed again =)

Should be a fun ride…Welcome to the world little Nathan, I know you have a Mommy and Daddy who’ve loved you for a very.long.time.

Engaged! Scott and Lindsay – AZ Engagement Photography

Lindsay is my nanny and such an amazing help to me! She juggles the 3 kids and household responsibilities so well that I question my mothering abilities on her days off =) She’s recently engaged to Scott and I can already tell that these two will have a great future! Here are some more images we captured for their engagement session.

Thanks Scott and Lindsay!!

Young Love – AZ Wedding Photography

These two are dying for a sneak peek so here’s one shot that to me, just captured THEM. Scott and Lindsay were recently engaged and are such an adorable couple. I shouldn’t have titled the post “young love” because they are probably getting slack for that from a lot of places, but for the record I know Lindsay pretty well and she is a very mature young woman who I think will handle marriage just fine. And Scott was just adorable, silly and cute with her, so he pretty much won me over!

I LOVE young, new love. I secretly live vicariously through these people because being engaged and newly married is some of my fondest memories with my husband. It was the beginning of the best times of my life and I truly enjoy watching others in their own mushy bliss =)

More to come on these two!
