About Jen...

Thanks for checking in to learn more about me.  I love my life and seriously feel really blessed!  Photography is a passion of mine and it definitely continues to challenge me to push the envelope more and more.  I have been photographing weddings and families for more than 10 years and feel incredibly blessed to do what I love surrounded by those that I love!!  I am a mom to three and married to the love of my life.  I've chosen to work from home and while often challenging, I wouldn't trade it for the world.

I have 2 boys and one little girl.  Brennan is almost 7 and is my little red head.  People LOVE his red hair. Though he started out with the fiery personality I carried as a youngster, he's grown up to be quite the respectful child who has a love of learning. Dawson is a middle child...need I say more?  He's a tender hearted almost 4 year old whose main method of communication is the perpetual whine.  He has an infectious smile that sure makes it hard to put the camera down around him.  Emery is our little girl who is 1 year old.  She's super laid back and easily entertained...the complete opposite of both her brothers.  She is loved by all the boys in our house but wants only to be with Mommy...and after a couple of Daddy's boys, I'm really ok with that!  My husband and I will be married 10 years this year.  I can hardly believe it's been that long.  He too has a job that he loves in Real Estate Development.  He's very supportive of me in my business and really helpful with the technical side of things (he insists he's even taught me a little Photoshop here and there...I beg to differ).  If there's anything he'd change about my job...it's all the romance I'm around that he has to compete with!!  I'm a hopeless romantic for sure!  But he has some of that in him too, it just tends to go into hiding sometimes!

My family is the most important thing to me and is definitely the reason I love photography so much.  I can't describe the satisfaction I get in capturing wonderful moments for people who are be able to keep them as memories forever.  I truly am grateful that I can have a career working for so many amazing people during some of their most intimate life moments.

In the bag...

I use only the highest quality cameras and lenses!  My main camera is the Canon 5d Mark II.  It is a full frame camera with over 21 megapixels and an expanded ISO range from 50 up to 25,600.  WOW!!  This is cutting edge camera technology...at least for the moment!  I also use only Canon "L" series lenses.  The "L" stand for luxury and man does it ever live up to its name!  Aside from giving me a good arm workout, these lenses have low dispersion glass and are some of the fastest lenses available.  While I typically prefer the wide aperture and great depth of field offered by the 70-200 f 2.8 lens, I also have a handful of other great lenses...

17-40mm f 4.0 USM                                                                                                     28-70mm f 2.8 USM                                                                                                   35mm f 1.4 USM                                                                                                              I also have a Canon 580EX and 580EXII Speedlight.

For Editing I use Adobe Lightroom 2.0 and Adobe Photoshop CS4.

Because we all know photos can be stressful!

Most every parent has been there…you plan the photo session, pick the perfect outfits and dream about the gorgeous images you MIGHT get if all variables pan out…weather, kids cooperation, husband cooperation (yes they need it too), lighting, time of day etc. But then it happens…tears, falls, injuries, chaos of being kids and you think to yourself, “that was all just a big waste of time!”

After having to reschedule at least 3 or 4 times with this family because of RAIN…I mean really, it NEVER rains here and we’ve had to cancel our session so many times…I was finally able to meet up with the Joe and Emily and their kids this morning and even despite what the stressed Mommy thinks after our session, I wanted to get a sneak peek on here so she can see that we DID IN FACT get some images for her to work with! More to come in another week or so =)

This little guy is 3 weeks older than my Emery and in his PRIME “can’t get my picture I want to be down and run and ignore you calling my name” two year old stage. It’s not fun…but look at this, we got him, if only for a moment and I’m pretty sure his Mom might really love this precious shot!

He also tends to love puddles…I had to encourage this one at the end of our session even though his parents weren’t so sure knowing it would erupt in tears for the wetness and mud that would follow…I’m pretty sure these shots are worth the complaints and half naked ride home =)

And check out this cutey! Little Colby is the sweetest thing and even though he’s coming up on the “tries too hard and doesn’t quite get the smile out” stage…we caught this moment and I think he just looks SO DANG HANDSOME!! It helps that he is such a sweet boy!
