HOORAY! You’re ready to book…here are some answers to common questions regarding your upcoming session.
When should I schedule my session?
To ensure we are giving customers a great photo experience, we take on limited monthly sessions. Typically we are booking sessions about 3 weeks out, however during busy seasons it can be much longer for session availability.
When is it best to schedule Maternity and/or Newborn Sessions?
The sooner the better. Maternity sessions are best taken between 32-36 weeks of pregnancy. Newborn sessions should be scheduled as soon as possible so we can reserve a time for your delivery month. We prefer to photograph all newborn sessions within the first 7-10 days of life. The timing of the newborn session is critical as older babies tend to be more awake, less pliable for the poses and often times baby acne surfaces around 2 weeks. Please contact us as early as possible and we will find a time to fit in your newborn session.
How do I schedule my session?
Just give us a call! Since we reserve a limited number of sessions we require payment for your session fee at the time of booking. We can take credit card or you can mail a check to reserve your date/time.
Where are sessions photographed?
All sessions are done on location with the exception of newborn sessions which can be done in our studio OR in your home, whichever you prefer. We will discuss with you the look you want for your session and suggest various locations that may be a good fit.
What can I expect for my session?
Most regular sessions last approximately one hour although sessions with larger families may take a bit longer. We will gladly capture individual images as well as various group shots. Our style allows for plenty of play/candid photos as well as typical posed images. Newborn sessions typically last between 2-4 hours allowing time for feeding, consoling and changing as needed.
What should I wear for my session?
This depends on the type of shoot and is something we will discuss in more detail with you during a pre-session consultation. Typically we encourage lots of layers and color! With families I recommend complimenting your various outfits with colors that look good together, but refrain from being too matchy. For kids and seniors feel free to bring a change of clothes to vary the look of your photos. Stay away from too much white, it tends to wash people out and isn’t the most flattering. Newborns are best photographed naked! We love those little bums, the tiny baby rolls and the beautiful and perfect skin! We do enjoy various hats, wraps and other fun accessories. We have a selection we can provide and are happy to use anything you provide as well.
When will I see my images?
We know you’re anxious to see your images and do our best to complete your photo editing within two weeks of your shoot. At that time your images will be placed in an online photo gallery for viewing and ordering. You will have 10 days to complete your photo order. We also offer in studio viewings if you prefer to sit down one on one and get help with ordering or customizing a unique Wall Gallery, Custom Photo Book or any other product we offer. We have a variety of samples so you can see and feel the quality of our products. Because we want each customer to have our full attention through their session and ordering process, orders not placed within the gallery timeframe of 10 days will be charged an additional $50 fee to order at a future date.
